Michael Schreiber started DJing in the late 90’s as resident DJ of the well known night bar / club Deelight in Frankfurt am Main under his pseudonym KING DK. His first release „Can’t read your mind“ on Black Vinyl Records quickly became a soulful vocal house gem and was signed to various samplers like Hed Kandi and others. Even recently in 2021, sixteen years later, new remixes were created for the second time, proving that it is still an evergreen for fans of this genre. After the great start he kept the bar high and worked the following years with singers like Keith Thompson and Wunmi and remixed numerous big names such as Robert Owens and Ralf Gum.
In 2014, he launched a new project called re:deep, in which he revealed a more emotional and thoughtful facet of himself. To give his creativity the necessary space, he simultaneously founded his label VORDERGRUNDMUSIK, on which he subsequently released his first long player „in between“ on sexy 180 g heavyweight black vinyl. He thus fulfilled a long-standing dream and was rewarded by England’s DJ MAG with a respectable rating of 8.5.
What began as a playground for his own creative output, quickly evolved into a platform for like-minded, out-of-the-box thinking producers like Rittik Wystup, Martin Merz and Tokyo’s Kawatin. Besides its own terrific crew, the label’s portfolio also includes numerous great remixes by notable artists such as Extrawelt, Timo Maas, Reboot, Rampue and many more.
It almost seems as if he has to set off for new shores around every decade. So in 2022, for the first time under his civil name Michael Schreiber, he brought his rather club oriented „Repetitive Strukturen“ series to life, which he would describe as cool tech-house with a groove.
